Dr. Karl Scarpin (BDS)

Dr. Karl Scarpin heads the team of dental professionals at Advanced Dental Centre. An experienced Dental Surgeon, he completed his Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 1994. He has a very keen interest in complex restorative and cosmetic dentistry, and the use of implants to manage missing teeth.
He is a member of the Australian Osseointegration Society, Australian Society of Implant Dentistry, the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, the Australian Society of Periodontology, Global Institute for Dental Education, and the Australian Dental Association.
More recently, in September 2011, he travelled to the University of California where he successfully completed the final stage of the 1 year gIDE/UCLA Master Clinician Program in Implant Dentistry.
He has worked in city and country dental surgeries, gaining extensive experience in both the private and public sectors.
Dr. Karl Scarpin created Advanced Dental Centre to provide high quality dental care in a warm, relaxed and comfortable environment. He has a strong belief in continuous learning, always striving to enhance his knowledge and skills.
Karl is married to Angela and has three lovely children, Claire, Renae and Justin. He enjoys playing tennis and going fishing (so if you hear about his fishing trip with Agassi, you might want to take it with a pinch of salt).
Dr. Nichola Matto (BDS)

Dr. Nichola Matto completed her Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 2001, and worked in country Victoria for four years before joining Advanced Dental Centre. She is a member of the Australian Dental Association (ADA).
Her primary focus within the practice is on preventive care of the teeth and gums. She especially enjoys treating children and coaching them in effective home care.
In her spare time, Nichola loves to carve up the snowy slopes of the Victorian highlands. When not skiing, she finds peace of mind peddling across hilly terrain on her bicycle.
Dr. Tony Mavrokokki (BDS)

For decades, dental patients across South Australia have enjoyed the benefits of Dr. Tony Mavrokokki's knowledge and experience.
That's because he spent more than 20 years at the Adelaide Dental Hospital, teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students in oral surgery.
Dr. Mavrokokki, who has a Bachelor of Dental Surgery and a Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry (Oral Medicine), is now bringing his considerable expertise to patients at Advanced Dental Centre.
"As part of my work with the SA Dental Service at the Adelaide Dental Hospital, I also worked with special needs patients who'd undertaken treatments such as radiotherapy, chemotherapy or were suffering from complex medical problems," Dr. Mavrokokki says.
When he's not in the dental surgery, Dr. Mavrokokki can be found in the great outdoors. The keen fisherman says there's nothing better than angling for salmon off the beaches of South Australia's West Coast.
Malvina Filip (BOH)

Dental Hygienist and Therapist Malvina Filip completed her Bachelor of Oral Health at Adelaide University in 2007 and spent a year honing her skills in the Clare Valley before joining the team at Advanced Dental Centre.
She prides herself on friendly interaction with her clients and ensuring that anxious children are helped to relax in the dentist's chair.
"My favourite part of the job is working with children and their parents to develop strong oral hygiene habits from an early age," says Malvina, who also has a keen interest in Orthodontics.
The ability to work with children sparked Malvina's interest in Dental Therapy when she was still in high school. Having completed her degree in Bachelor of Oral Health in 2007, Malvina went on to attain her Honours in Dentistry. "I wanted a challenge so I decided to do my Honours. My thesis focused on providing dental care to medically compromised patients and those with special needs."
A keen Zumba fan, Malvina says she quickly felt at home at Advanced Dental Centre. "It's an excellent place to work - everyone is so friendly and helpful. There's a great team atmosphere."
Andrea Paul (BOH)

Andrea Paul worked in the school dental service before joining the team at Advanced Dental Centre, gaining a great insight into the oral hygiene habits of young South Australians and extensive experience in techniques needed to encourage positive attitudes to dental health.
"For me, it's as much about the human contact as it is about the teeth," says the Dental Hygienist and Therapist. "That's why I decided to do dental work - you really get to know your patients and build a personal rapport with them."
After initially studying a Bachelor of Science and carrying out tutoring and research work at The University of Adelaide, Andrea stayed on at the university to gain her dental qualifications.
"Dentistry is changing and the fear factor is gradually being reduced among both adults and children," she says. "I've learnt that it's important to be as honest as possible with patients - to explain their options and what they'll need to do to really achieve long-term results."
When Andrea isn't pursuing her dreams of working in the dental industry, she's pursuing her passion for food, either cooking in her own kitchen or enjoying the cuisine in Adelaide's restaurant scene.
Angela Scarpin

Angela Scarpin with her husband, Dr. Karl Scarpin, created Advanced Dental Centre. Her experience as an Accountant has played an important role in the success of Advanced Dental Centre.
She balances the books with the same dedication as she does being a great mother to her three young children Claire, Renae and Justin. And according to Karl, she is also a great cook.
Angela has a chronic case of the travel bug with Italy being her favorite place in the world. Her Italian love affair includes enjoying tiramisu and cappuccinos at the finest cafés around Adelaide. She burns those extra “tiramisu” calories by going to aerobics.
Karma Hill-Ling

Karma Hill-Ling has a Certificate III in Dental Assisting with many years of experience in dental assisting.
Her focus is on the patient’s comfort and care, and does all she can to assure the treatment goes smoothly and pain free.
Karma enjoys sharing lively conversation and great food and wines with her many friends. There is never a dull moment when Karma is in the room.
Kylie Storti

Every day is a learning experience for Advanced Dental Centre's Kylie Storti. And the former graphic designer couldn't be happier.
"Every client is different. While I'm chatting with them and helping them to relax and feel more comfortable, I'm also learning about dental issues and how to adapt to new challenges and situations. It's a very rewarding role in that sense."
Kylie, who has completed a Certificate III in Dental Assisting, says - everything clicked when she arrived for her first day of work at Advanced Dental Centre. "It's a wonderful team to work with and it's a really lovely working environment. It's busy and dynamic and I am learning more all the time. I feel very lucky to be here."
When she's not caring for clients, Kylie's busy caring for her menagerie at home. She and partner Craig have two Dobermans, a Maltese Toy Poodle, a turtle and some fish.
Alana Harvey

Alana Harvey joined Advanced Dental Centre as a Dental Assistant in mid 2010 and immediately felt at home with the "friendly, bubbly team".
With ambitions of one day studying to become a Dental Hygienist, Alana says she couldn't be happier in her first job out of Urrbrae High School. "It's such a nice place to work - everyone is lovely," she says. "I really like working with the patients, hearing their stories and reassuring them that everything will be OK."
Alana says the most satisfying part of her role is seeing the transformation in patients who receive major dental treatments. "Some patients come in with no teeth and receive implants, dentures or crowns," she says. "It completely changes their confidence, as well as the way they look, and it's great to be a part of that."
On weekends, Alana heads to the Onkaparinga Hills, riding and caring for her two horses Blitz and Axle.
Rebecca Violi

Word of mouth is a powerful form of marketing, so when friends told Bec Violi about a job vacancy at Advanced Dental Centre she jumped at the chance to join the dynamic team.
An experienced dental nurse who understands the demands of both general dentistry and orthodontic practices, Bec relishes the variety of procedures carried out at Advanced Dental Centre.
"It's great to see the results of professional work on patients, especially when it's something as dramatic as replacing a discoloured front tooth with an implant," she says. "It can completely change a person's personality and sense of confidence. I just find the work so interesting and varied, and the place has such a great atmosphere. It's a fun place to work."
When Bec's not assisting the surgeons and hygienists at Advanced Dental Centre, she enjoys entertaining friends, cooking and relaxing.
Emily Wishart

Receptionist Emily Wishart likes to keep busy, but she's always got time for a friendly chat with patients on their arrival at Advanced Dental Centre.
With more than seven years' experience in dental reception and administration work, combined with training in dental assisting, she knows when to offer a little extra support and encouragement to nervous patients.
"Everyone on the team is so friendly and welcoming - we work hard but there's always lots of laughter too, and I think that helps the patients to settle in and relax," she says.
"It can get very busy at times and that's one of the things I enjoy most about Advanced Dental Centre. It's a really vibrant workplace - it keeps me on my toes."
Emily's eagerness to be active extends well beyond the reception desk. She's a keen netballer who loves the great outdoors, often heading home to the family farm on Eyre Peninsula for camping and surfing with her husband Simon and beloved Border Collie Stella.
Jacinta Carter

Like lots of children, Jacinta Carter grew up in fear of the dentist. After eight years as a Dental Assistant though, she knows the right treatment can transform people's lives. "Even just a simple clean can work wonders, and make patients so much more confident and happy," she says. "That's very rewarding."
With a Certificate III in Dental Assisting, Jacinta strives to ensure patients are relaxed and comfortable.
When she's not at work, the former Broken Hill girl is on the court. Cina, as she's known to her friends, is big on tennis, basketball and barbecues in the park with friends.
