Dr. Karl Scarpin heads the team of dental professionals at Advanced Dental Centre. An experienced Dental Surgeon, he has a keen interest in complex restorative and cosmetic dentistry, and the use of implants to manage missing teeth.

Dr. Scarpin has been working with implants since graduating in 1994. He has undertaken extensive training in implant dentistry and is a member of the Australian Osseointegration Society, Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and the Australian Dental Association.

In 2011 he traveled to the University of California where he successfully completed the final stage of the 1 year gIDE/UCLA Master Clinician Program in Implant Dentistry. He has also completed his post-graduate diploma in Clinical Dentistry (Oral Implants) at the University of Sydney.

He has worked in city and country dental surgeries, gaining extensive experience in both the private and public sectors.

Dr. Scarpin created Advanced Dental Centre to provide high quality dental care in a warm, relaxed and comfortable environment. He has a strong belief in continuous learning, always striving to enhance his knowledge and skills.

Dr. Nichola Matto completed her Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 2001, and worked in country Victoria for four years before joining Advanced Dental Centre. She is a member of the Australian Dental Association (ADA).

Her primary focus within the practice is on preventive care of the teeth and gums. She especially enjoys treating children and coaching them in effective home care.

In her spare time, Nichola loves to carve up the snowy slopes of the Victorian highlands. When not skiing, she finds peace of mind pedalling across hilly terrain on her bicycle.

Dr. Roxane Francisco graduated from the University of Adelaide in 1994 and worked in both the private and public sector in SA’s Riverland for six years before returning to Adelaide in 2000. Roxane worked in the Northern suburbs and earnt a reputation for her high quality dental work delivered with her warm and caring nature. Roxane joined the Advanced Dental Centre team in 2018,  her ability was an obvious fit for our modern rooms offering high quality dental work with the latest proven technologies.

Dr. Francisco’s interests lie in preventative, restorative and rehabilitation dentistry for the whole family. Roxane is part of a large extended family herself with two children of her own.

Whenever Roxane has some down time, she loves to spend time with her family and friends. She enjoys yoga and travelling with her family.

A dedicated Oral Health Therapist and clinical tutor, Diem has over 14 years of experience and is an integral part of the Advanced Dental Centre team. She’s involved in all aspects of dental health including providing pre- and post-operative dental hygiene clinical care to a variety of patients.

‘At Advanced Dental Centre, we’re always laughing and we’re a team where we are all similar minded and positive, which is unique for a practice. Our personalities just seem to match and we all get along so well, which flows on to our interaction with patients.

I really do love working with every type of patient. Each person presents their own kind of challenges that I enjoy working through, even if someone is apprehensive about treatment, I enjoy working out what works best for them and putting their mind at ease.’

A believer in ongoing education, she shares her knowledge with students at University of Adelaide and previously at Charles Sturt University as a clinical tutor.

Outside of work Diem is a CrossFit lover that likes getting muddy in the hills on her mountain bike on weekends. She’s also known for making some of the most creative cakes you’ve ever seen… which no one in the office minds one bit!

A capable and friendly Oral Health Therapist with outstanding communication skills, Seja really enjoys working as part of a team to achieve the best results for her patients and coworkers.

In addition to a Bachelor of Oral Health, Seja also possesses a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care, meaning she brings a bunch of skills and knowledge to our practice that makes her second to none.

As you can imagine, Seja is superb with children and families and you’ll always find warmth and patience when you have an appointment with her. She ensures a close relationship with patients and their families and that they have complete involvement in their course of care.

‘I just find it so rewarding to work with kids and families and I continually find ways to expand my expertise in this area.’

During her previous placement at Dental for Schools, she was responsible for completing a wide range of preventive and restorative treatments in a mobile dental setting, providing services to over 200 schools across South Australia. And we’re so lucky that she brings all that wisdom and experience to our practice.

‘I’m quite good at reading people’s body language and trying to make them comfortable for the entire appointment. It’s important to me that I get to reassure patients and remind them that they are in control, so every appointment is a pleasant experience.’

Known to collect an indoor plant or two, she loves being surrounded by her collection whilst she’s drawing or sketching in her downtime.

Maddie graduated from the University of Adelaide with a Bachelor of Oral Health in 2019. Throughout her studies, she had the opportunity to have insight into many aspects of the dental field including working with aged care, special needs, homeless and underprivileged groups.

Prior to joining the Advanced Dental Centre team in June 2022, Maddie provided Oral Health Therapy in both rural and suburban settings, with a heavy focus on paediatric dental, and an emphasis on stress free cleans and procedures for her adult patients. She is particularly enthusiastic about teeth whitening.

Maddie continues to pride herself on providing quality dental care, with a heavy focus on patient experience and rapport. She enjoys working with her younger clients to give them a great first dental visit. She continues to undertake further education, which allows her to broaden her skills and knowledge.

In her down time, Maddie loves long walks, great restaurants, a captivating book and a cuddle with her cat, Ziggi.

Jami graduated from the University of Adelaide with a Bachelor of Oral Health with Extended Adult Scope in 2022. Prior to this she completed her nursing degree in 2017 but chose to pursue her interests in dental.

Jami loves building trust with her patients and working with them to achieve their oral health goals. She prides herself on her ability to make her patients, young and old, feel at ease and comfortable in the dental chair.

On the weekends, you’ll find Jami cheering on her local footy team in the Adelaide Hills, and spending time with family and friends.
